Oregano Systems announces the availability of the remote update function for its syn1588®VIP device and evaluation board. Using the standard IEEE1588 management messages one can upload a new FPGA configuration and thus software onto the syn1588®VIP. There are two FPGA configurations that are stored locally in a SPI Flash memory. The factory default configuration is fixed and acts as the known good fall-back mechanism in case the update process failed (e.g. due to an interruption of the network connection etc.). The user configuration may be updated by the user using Oregano Systems‘ syn1588® PTP management software.
